The Missing of Pheasant Wood

Identifying soldiers of the Great War through science

The Battle Museum of Fromelles and the Archaeology and Heritage Service of the Nord Department have teamed up to produce an exhibition that addresses the Great War through the prism of science.

Through this exhibition, discover how soldiers who went missing during the Battle of Fromelles on July 19 and 20, 1916 were found 93 years later and identified. This identification work, which resembles a police investigation, renaming these missing soldiers and for each new identity, it is a soldier's story resurfacing and the continuing duty of remembrance.

Exhibition produced by the services of the Archaeology and Heritage Service of the Nord Department and the Museum of the Battle of Fromelles team from the MEL.
